The psoas is where we store tension from the sympathetic nervous system’s fight or flight response. This is why it is often tight and can cause back and hip pain. Because it is connected to the fight or flight response, it is also often the storage place in the body for old fear, anxiety and doubt.
Deep Psoas Trauma Release is a set of exercises used to slowly fatigue the psoas and induce an involuntary quivering or shaking, which begins in the legs, but can spread through the body depending on how and where tension is stored. This shaking releases the long held tension as well as the associated emotion and acts as a kind of reset for the nervous system, bringing the mind and body into a state of calm.
